Domains

Every web service and static site gets an address on projectwabi.app, and can take your own domains.

Platform address

Each web service and static site is served at https://<label>.projectwabi.app. Workers and databases have no public web address.

The label defaults to the service name, and you can choose another lowercase DNS label when you create the service. Labels are unique across all of wabi, paid and free sites alike, so a label someone else holds is taken. These are reserved:

www api app admin edge status docs mail ops-*

One wildcard certificate covers every *.projectwabi.app address, so a service is on HTTPS from its first deployment, with nothing to issue.

Custom domains

A web service or static site can also answer on your own domains.

  1. Add the hostname to the service, for example shop.example.com.
  2. At your DNS provider, add the two records the dashboard shows.
  3. Verify the domain in the dashboard.
TypeNameValue
CNAMEshop.example.comedge.projectwabi.app
TXT_wabi.shop.example.comthe token the dashboard shows

The CNAME sends traffic to wabi. The TXT record proves the domain is yours.

Apex domains

An apex domain such as example.com can't hold a CNAME. For one, the dashboard shows A records with the addresses of edge.projectwabi.app instead. Add those along with the TXT record. Verification accepts either form.

Each hostname is a domain of its own: example.com and www.example.com are two.

Verification and certificates

Verifying checks both records. If one is missing, the dashboard names it; verify again once your DNS provider serves it.

Once the domain is verified, wabi requests a certificate for it. The certificate is issued within a few minutes, and the domain's certificate status moves from pending to issued.

A hostname belongs to one service across all of wabi. Hostnames under projectwabi.app are platform addresses and can't be added as custom domains.

How many domains

Custom domains count toward your plan, across all your services:

Hobby1
Pro5
Scale20

Staking tier B adds 2 (Staking). Platform addresses don't count.

Remove a domain

Removing a custom domain stops the service answering on it and frees one of your plan's domains. The platform address stays with the service for as long as the service exists.
